The second link leads to a great post on Philippine costumes from the 1800’s. I’m personally interested in this kind of things because every time we go to the national museum, I invariably get comments on how much I resemble the women in the old Filipino paintings. Turn-of-the-century Manila-ish, they said, especially with the right get-up. I have one of those homely Yndio faces, I guess.

(YT link via Imee.)

It said: What are some fairy-tale professions besides ‘woodcutter’? And I was embarrassed that I could not think of any. Six months of consideration has produced this list:

Woodcutter
Spinner (*must be lazy)
Thief
Miller (*must be poor)
Tailor (*must be valiant)
Beggar
Foundling
Huntsman (*must be skilled)
King
Peasant
Sluggard
Shepherd Boy

Love is emotional maturity needed to deal with...

Love is emotional maturity needed to deal with disillusionment.
It’s knowing your Other will not always save you, even if he can.
And being okay with that.

ETA 13:56
Talk about synchronicity. Just when I buried myself in the comfort of pragmaticism, I find my horoscope for week of September 4, 2008 making a mockery of it:

“The reality of love is mutilated when it is removed from all its unreality.” So said the French philosopher Gaston Bachelard in his book The Poetics of Reverie. He meant that realism alone is not enough for human beings to live on, especially in our most intimate relationships. We need fantasy to augment the merely factual perspective. We require poetic truths to keep the rational approach honest. Without the play of the imagination, in fact, our understanding of the world is impoverished and distorted. In this spirit, Scorpio, I invite you to be extra daydreamy and imaginative about love in the coming days. Feed your soul and the souls of those you love with experiences that arouse mystery and wonder. (P.S. Nietzsche said: “We have art in order not to perish of truth.”)

To see other photos taken at the Singapore Botanical Gardens,...

To see other photos taken at the Singapore Botanical Gardens, please proceed to this album. Everything looks better in their original sizes. The collection is a bit uninspired, admittedly. I was more preoccupied by the act of taking pictures of flowers than the flowers themselves. It’s almost meditative; you single out a certain bloom in the bunch and focus on it so long that your mind just zones out and wanders into eternity.

そうさ君とこの銀河の中で出会ったよ

I already did this about three years ago with a different picture, which yielded rather grotesque results. Viewing this page in the middle of the night or in a dark room is definitely not recommended for young children, the elderly, and people with heart problems.

The simple man is the man who can cheat on you without a second thought.

The simple man is the man who will forget important milestones in your life

The simple man takes 2 hours to figure out, and one minute to get over

The simple man is the man who judges you for having a different point of view from his

The simple man is a douchebag

The simple man is the man I maybe sleep with once, and never call again.

The simple man is someone I would never date.

I want someone with substance, someone who takes a while to figure out, and someone who sets up camp in my heart.

And that is all she wrote……xx AntiKris
